Boston University Scholarships for Local and International Students 2021

The Boston University is located in  in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. It is a top research university, founded in the year 1839,  that offers bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, doctorates, and medical, dental, business, and law degrees through 18 schools and colleges.

The University offers a number of scholarships to local and international students; some of which involve full-tuition fee funding, while some are partly funded. These scholarships were made available to recognize high achieving students.

 

Eligibility

1. U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and eligible non-citizens are considered for all merit awards and other scholarships.
2. International students are considered for the Trustee and Presidential Scholarships only.

 

 

Trustee Scholarship

Alexis Gavras Graduate Scholarship Fund

Boston University’s Metropolitan College (MET) is honored to present the Alexis Gavras Graduate Scholarship Fund, made possible by a generous gift from Haralambos Gavras, MD, and Irene Gavras, MD. Established in memory of their son, Alexis (CAS’93, MET’04), the Gavras Scholarship is available to eligible graduate students at Metropolitan College and BU’s School of Medicine (BUSM).

Scholarships will support up to two deserving graduate students who are enrolled in graduate degree programs in the Department of Computer Science at MET, or who are pursuing studies in biomedical research in the division of Graduate Medical Sciences at BUSM.

Eligibility Requirements

Up to two Alexis Gavras Graduate Scholarships will be awarded to eligible graduate students based on the following criteria:

1. Applicants must be EITHER native and/or self-identified Greek graduate students who completed an undergraduate degree at the University of Patras in Greece or at any accredited college or university in Greece OR Greek–American graduate students who completed an undergraduate degree at any accredited college or university.
2. Applicants must be admitted to and enrolled in a graduate degree program focused on computer science* at Boston University’s Metropolitan College.
3. Applicants must be able to demonstrate financial need, to be ascertained by filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the applicable academic year; applicants must provide Boston University with the necessary information to access completed FAFSA data from the federal processor.
4. Applicants must be making satisfactory academic progress in their programs, as determined by the academic unit(s) and MET’s Graduate Financial Aid office.

 

 

The Osher Reentry Scholarship

Established at Boston University’s Metropolitan College by the Bernard Osher Foundation in 2008, the Osher Reentry Scholarship is available to eligible adult students continuing the pursuit of their first bachelor’s degree after a significant hiatus.

Osher Reentry Scholarships apply to any undergraduate degree program at Metropolitan College. The scholarship is also a good match for the Accelerated Degree Completion Program, which provides an intensive course of study for motivated professionals who have 64 transferable undergraduate credits.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Osher Reentry Scholarship, you must:

• Be an adult reentry student between the ages of 25 and 50.
• Show evidence of a cumulative gap in the pursuit of an undergraduate degree of five or more years.
• Be a United States citizen or permanent resident.
• Be planning to return to or continue in the workforce.
• Show evidence of financial need. Priority is given to applicants who have filed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
• Be admitted to an undergraduate degree program at Metropolitan College as either a part-time or full-time student pursuing a first baccalaureate degree.

Application Deadline

Reviews of scholarship applications start July 30 for fall and December 1 for spring. Applicants who have submitted completed scholarship applications by these dates will be given priority. Application reviews will continue throughout the year until all funds are awarded.
