Undergraduate Scholarship: ICSP Scholarships

The ICSP Scholarships is meant for international students who demonstrate financial need and exceptional merit may apply for the International Cultural Service Program (ICSP). Selected ICSP students receive a tuition-waiver scholarship ranging from 0 – 15 non-resident academic credits per term. The scholarship amount will remain consistent each term. ICSP students agree to complete 80 hours per year of cultural service as required by the program. Cultural service can include speaking or giving demonstrations to schools or community groups about the heritage and culture of your country or participating in international events on campus.

Eligibility for the Scholarship

  1. Applicants must be admissible or fully admitted to the University of Oregon. New students must apply for admission to the University of Oregon
  2. Applicants cannot be U.S. citizens, U.S. permanent residents, or eligible to receive U.S. federal financial assistance.
  3. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and meet the minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA requirement.

Selection Criteria for the Scholarship

  1. Demonstrated financial need
  2. Experience participating in cultural activities
  3. Demonstrated performance and presentation skills
  4. Strong academic records
  5. Strong communication skills

Postgraduate Scholarships: Gary E. Smith Summer Professional Development Award

The award is designed to support outstanding graduate and law students pursuing academic, professional development or training enrichment opportunities during the summer. The activity would provide unique opportunities not normally available as part of the degree program.

 

Eligibility and Criteria

  1. Master’s, doctoral, and law students
  2. Demonstrated financial need for the proposed activity
  3. Must be a full-time student during Winter 2021 and Spring 2021, and be continuing in Fall 2021
  4. The proposed professional development or training enrichment activities must occur between June 1, 2021 and mid-September 2021

  2. Financial need statement
  3. Evidence of approval for a travel exception
  4. Two letters of recommendation

Margaret McBride Lehrman Fellowship

This fellowship derives from an endowment created to provide support for graduate students with financial need who are pursuing studies that emphasize communication, especially writing skills.

 

Award Details

  1. $10,000 stipend for academic year 2021-2022
  2. Funds will be disbursed to the student billing account in 3 equal installments in Fall, Winter, and Spring terms
  3. Tuition waiver up to 16 credits for any term not covered by a GE appointment (tuition only – student is responsible for mandatory fees)

Eligibility and Criteria

  1. Currently enrolled Master’s, Doctoral and Law students
  2. Must be enrolled for the entire 2021-22 academic year
  3. Strong academic record
  4. Demonstrated financial need
  5. Enrolled in a graduate degree program in the liberal arts, journalism or communications disciplines
  6. Pursuing studies that emphasize communication, and especially writing skills
